January 10, 1935 - October 22, 2011

On October 22, 2011 Walter left us following a tragic car accident he suffered earlier between Castlegar and Nelson.

His absence is deeply felt at Grandview where he had been a very active contributor since moving here from Slocan Park. Walter had retired from his logging contracting business. He was deeply rooted in his Doukhobor culture, a member of the Spiritual and Cultural associations of that community it was no surprise then that Walter was part of the group who first envisioned the Seniors Housing Cooperative. He became one of the first residents of Grandview Heights.

Once settled in his home he quickly busied himself, serving first on the Board then on the Strata Council. He took on the contract for cutting the grass in Summer and clearing the snow in Winter but leaving time to cultivate his garden and easy friendships with neighbours.

Walter was a perfect example of what constitutes "a Good Man", always ready to help anyone. Spaceeba Walter! Thank you.

Rest in Peace.
