(Sung to the tune of “The Battle of New Orleans”)

In the Kootenay Valley there was a little band
Of gung-ho senior citizens who wanted to buy land
(pause)
They formed a little co-op and decided to proceed
To build a little haven to serve their every need.
(pause)

CHORUS:
Well they tried so hard and the problems kept a-commin’
But there aren’t as many as there was a while ago
(pause)
They rallied once more and things began a-hummin’
They never really doubted their project was a ‘Go’.

Then Elmer said, “Now wait a minute guys,
Why don’t we get more members so we could economize?”
(pause)
They signed up many others, their ranks began to swell
And everyone was certain things would work out well.

(REPEAT CHORUS)
Through many public hearings and traffic counting, too
Clearing land and grading slopes and planning “water loops”
(pause)
This hardy band of seniors kept goals within their sights
And here we are to celebrate …. the start of Grandview Heights!
