Senior's Non Profit Cooperative Housing

I find it so interesting how things happen, especially when we allow those things to 'flow', and don't try to 'Push the River', as Barry Stevens so aptly put it.

Nora and I live on a beautiful acre and a half property along the Columbia River . It is actually a heritage home that was originally a plant nursery, dating back to 1906. Over the past 20 plus years that we have been caretaking this delightful spot, it has become a gardener's paradise. Nora is the gardener, and over the years she has brought the gardens into a state where we are constantly awed at the beauty and peace it provides for us.

But, recently, we have been finding that the upkeep of our beautiful property is becoming a bit more than the two of us want to handle. What to do?

There are two situations we felt needed to be addressed:

  • If we were to move, where to, and
  • If we need to sell, to whom

We have always enjoyed the idea of community, having both spent time at the Findhorn Community in Scotland . Our property is in an area of Robson, where the community spirit is very evident, both within the boundaries of our garden and home, and in the surrounding area. It has provided a constant space for meditations, workshops, garden tours, etc, over the years. In the process of allowing things to 'flow', we became aware of the Kootenay Columbia Seniors Housing Cooperative – a wonderful group of people, working together to provide non-profit housing and care facilities for all those who choose to become members. What more could we ask for.

The second situation we must deal with is that of selling our property. We feel that the property needs someone who will love and care for it as much as it has loved and cared for us over the years. But that will be another story.
