Dear folks;
Age forgives nobody but we can assist somewhat by realizing that we will be going through such a phase of life. We can learn from watching other seniors. Many seniors "die" before their time by giving up, while others are involved and continue to lead fruitful, active and healthy lives.
If we don't do something to help ourselves…who will…certainly not the government, although they will attempt to keep us alive. Kootenay Columbia Seniors Housing Cooperative was formed by a small group who also built and operate the Whatchan Retreat Center , which is situated close to Edgewood , B.C. This project, plus the Rosewood Housing Manor in Castlegar, have both been highly successful. The man instrumental in forming both of the above has proved capable in both construction and operation. The members of the Kootenay Columbia Seniors Housing Cooperative come from many nationalities but all are Canadians and work very successfully in unity to completion. When I realized that Elmer Verigin and his friends were also involved in this project any doubts I had in my mind disappeared.
No co-op member or director is paid any wages, but the effort put forth is superb.
When the housing project is completed I believe it will be highly satisfactory to live with a group who gives of themselves.
Since you will be a member-owner, you and your fellow members will be able to have some control of your life both financially and in the running of the Co-Op. It is my hope and prayer that others will also "step forth" and help show what we, as senior co-op members, can do for our community.
Thanking you all in advance for your kind help in building this future.
