Wellness Challenge
Active Communities Committee of Castlegar adopted a wellness challenge from Selkirk College called Walk the Kootenays in an effort to increase the overall activity levels of citizens in the Castlegar and surrounding area, and 38 members from Grandview Heights participated. You can see how we did on the Active Communities website Walk the Kootenays page.

Holiday Hampers
The Spirit of Community extends outside Grandview boundaries, so when the call for help came from the organizers of the Holiday Hampers, a ready crew of 10 reported for duty early on December 17th, 2009.  Our cheerful crew did what comes naturally. As Fred said, he has been doing it every Christmas since he was a kid.

Building a Ramp for John
When John Adams, chairman of the Care Committee, was injured in a fall, the members rallied around the project of building a ramp to greet him on his return from the hospital. John was touched by the caring support of friends in the co-op who have become like family.

Ann's Poem for Grandview Heights
Ann Chursinoff, one of our Directors, was inspired to write a poem to express her appreciation for the hard work of the co-op members, the spirit of true friendship in the community, and the natural beauty of the land. She read it at the Sod Turning Ceremony in June, 2007.

The Song of Grandview Heights
Mary Picton composed this dynamic song especially for the June 16th, 2007 Sod Turning Ceremony. The tune to which it is sung is “The Battle of New Orleans”.

Member Testimonials
Some of our current members eloquently express their reasons for joining the co-op and working so tirelessly to help make it a reality.

Lessons from the Geese
Canadian Geese flying south for the winter are a common sight in Canada every fall. "Lessons from the Geese" is an inspiring essay that has become a classic statement of the importance of teamwork and the benefits of community.
